We are looking for a highly motivated and talented Team Lead for Mechanical Engineering to join our R&D organization. In this newly created role, due to continuous expansion of the department, you will have a varied job content with appr. 50% of hours spend on the newly established leadership responsibility and appr. 50% of hours spend on own mechanical engineering projects.
Your Team Lead responsibilities include – but are not limited to – formal line management inkl. motivation and further development of mechanical engineers, resource planning – and proactive and forward-looking assessment of future needs.
In your own mechanical engineering role, you will develop mechanical designs for new products and product upgrades in close collaboration with a cross-functional project team and key stakeholders. You are interested in all phases of the development and understand the importance of good documentation practices. You will participate in the specification of devices and make well-founded decisions about design solutions, parts and materials to ensure safety and effectiveness of the mechanical design. Major parts of this role are analysis, simulation, detailed design descriptions, implementation, documentation, planning and coordination.
You will report to the R&D Director and have 6 Mechanical Engineers in direct report. We offer you a central role in an exciting company in constant growth. You will work in a dynamic team with international exposure and a multi-cultural organization.
Mechanical Engineering, medical devices and leadership skills
- Master or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with min. 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Hands-on experience with Design Control in accordance with EU ISO 13485 & US 21CFR820 Quality Systems for Medical Devices
- Experience within tolerance analysis, CAD modelling, SolidWorks, DFA/DFM, 2D, GPS and FEA
- Experience in high volume medical device manufacturing processes like injection molding, extrusion, assembly, packaging or sterilization
- Knowledge within polymer materials is an advantage
Besides having a solid mechanical foundation, you are a team player with a holistic mindset. You utilize your good collaborations skills to build strong collaboration with other functions like production, sourcing, and QA – both for your own and your teams’ behalf. You are proactive and have excellent skills within resource planning. As a leader you can succeed in motivating and developing your staff. Formal Team Lead experience is an advantage, but this job opportunity might just as well be your first experience with formal leadership after years with more informal leadership experience as a senior mechanical engineer. You are pragmatic and operate with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines. You enjoy a busy working day and can progress several tasks in parallel. You have proven analytical and problem-solving skills that will help you to develop competitive and user centric designs. You understand the importance of good documentation practices and see the value in creating solid documentation of the design. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
