The company is Marel, an international supplier of integrated systems, products and services for Fish, Meat and Poultry Industry. For Marel’s Industry Meat organization in Denmark, we are looking for an Area Sales Manager – Scandinavia.
Marel Meat is a global provider of automated slaughter lines for pigs, cattle and sheep, cutting and deboning lines. Marel Meat works in close collaboration with customers in the development, installation and commissioning of slaughter lines. Currently, the challenge for the meat industry is to use production technology that meets the increasing demands of the customers, but also satisfies all regulations concerning hygiene and food safety.
Your passion for developing sales efforts in order to expand incremental revenue and achieve profitable volume growth has helped you establish a proven track record of securing projects by closing deals. As Marel Meat’s new Area Sales Manager, you will have the responsibility to grow the Red Meat Slaughtering business in Scandinavia. You will report to the Business Unit Manager – Red Meat Slaughtering in the Netherlands, but you will also be affiliated to the Danish subsidiary Butina, located in Holbæk.
Your main responsibilities
As Marel Meat’s new Area Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the following working areas:
- Achieving assigned sales objectives with assistance from our technical staff in preparing tenders and specifications
- Generate new business and maximise existing accounts
- Co-ordinating additional commercial activities such as promotion, building and maintaining a network and acquisition
- Analyse, register and guard crucial information on outstanding offers (prices, competition, decision time)
- Frequent communication with clients, prospects, colleagues and other business partners.
Your professional and personal qualifications
Being the ideal candidate, we presume that you possess the following professional qualifications:
- Bachelor or master degree within a technical area (preferably mechanical engineering)
- Professional background in the food or process technology
- Experience with complex project sales cycles with large bid & proposal management
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Be prepared to travel on a regular bases (50%)

You are an open-minded person with a strong team spirit and a pragmatic approach to collaboration, internally and externally. You are able to work independently with an entrepreneurial mind set, and you are a creative thinker with the desire to develop the business by exploring new approaches to the market. Finally, you have strong analytical skills and the capacity to handle complex matters.
The job requires that you are fluent in written and spoken Danish and English. You are also expected to be at ease with communicating in the Scandinavian languages.
